Everton's talismanic midfielder Tim Cahill is set to put pen to paper on a new contract before he leaves for this summer's World Cup.
The Blues' chief executive Robert Elstone has confirmed on the Club's official website that contract talks are going well, and that Cahill's signature should be secure before he joins up with the Australia squad in South Africa.
He said: "We are at an advanced stage of negotiation with Tim and his representatives and we would be hopeful of concluding an extension to Tim's current deal and put pen to paper on a new four year contract before he departs for the World Cup."
David Moyes will be hoping that Cahill is the first of many to sign contract extensions this summer with Jack Rodwell and Steven Pienaar both due renewals before the tart of next season.
The Blues boss will be hoping that with Premier League business finished for the season, contract negotiations can become the Club's priority, particularly with Pienaar who goes into a World Cup shop window with good form and plenty of European admirers.
