Everton vs Portsmouth: Match Preview

Sunday's clash between Everton and Portsmouth will see the meeting of two clubs at opposing ends of any optimism scale.

Everton will be looking to end their season by adding to a run of 10 unbeaten games in the Premier League, their longest undefeated run in the top flight to date.

Relegated Portsmouth on the other hand have endured a season remarkable for its disastrous off the field management, earning the club the unenviable record of being the first in the top flight to go into administration.

The Blues can finish no higher than eighth this season, which will represent regression in terms of their top-six finishes for the past few years.

Despite this there's no sign of a gentle wind down at Everton as all sources from Finch Farm this week have spoken of David Moyes' desire to finish strong and win it for the fans.

David Moyes will look to be on the attack and may opt for the partnership of Louis Saha and Yakubu after favouring one or the other in previous weeks.

Three players who will be taking their last chance to impress Fabio Capello ahead of the World Cup this summer are Leighton Baines, Phil Jagielka and David James, all of whom will be hoping for an injury free end to the game.

Everton are heavy favourites to run out winners on Sunday with Portsmouth likely to have one eye on that FA Cup Final in just over a week.

Kick off at Goodison is a 4pm where the club has announced the game to be sold-out.
