Evertonians sent Steven Pienaar a clear message of support last night, voting him their Player of the Year at the Blues annual end if season awards.
Pienaar's future has been less than certain at Goodison amid stalling contract negotiations which have seen European giants like Bayern Munich and Manchester United keep a close eye on the South African.
But the 28 year old went some way to easing the worries of Evertonians who have seen Pienaar notch up seven goals in his most influential season yet.
Speaking at the awards he said: "Hopefully we can kick on from here to next season and the coming years."
"We have got the potential. The people behind the club really want it to happen and so do the players."
Pienaar, who received the award from last years winner Phil Jagielka, will want to secure a contract before he leads South Africa's bid this summer to become the first triumphant host nation since France in 1998.
He spoke of his admiration for the Evertonians who have enjoyed his creative approach to midfield play this year.
He said: "The whole team has been responsible for our play."
"We have been giving 120% to show the supporters why they have been spending so much money to watch us. They deserve nice football.''
Since joining Everton the midfielder's value has risen dramatically from the two million which the Blues paid Borussia Dortmund.
Rumours of a transfer worth around ten times that amount were suggested but Pienaar now looks closer to putting pen to paper on a new deal at Goodison.
When asked whether he would be likely to be appearing in an Everton shirt, the South African replied, "Sure, why not?"
Pienaar will feature in the World Cup alongside team-mates, Leighton Baines, Yakubu, John Hietinga and hopeful Phil Jagielka.
