Everton ladies claimed dramatic victory over fierce rivals Arsenal ladies in the FA Women's cup final on Monday.
Natasha Dowie wrote her name into Everton women's history with a match winning performance bagging a brace, the second in extra time, sealing victory for the Blues.
Dowie has spoken of her elation at helping Everton secure their first piece of silverware in two years.
Talking to Evertonfc.tv she said: "We battled so hard. Arsenal were probably on top for most of the game."
"But it just shows our grit and determination to get through a hard time and then end up winning the game with a late goal – it’s just the best feeling I’ve ever had in my life."
Everton were pegged back twice in the game after taking the lead initially through Dowie on 16 minutes, and again from a White own goal in the 45th.
The Gunners went into the game heavy favourites, currently sitting top of the FA Women’s league and dominated large parts of the game which was staged at Nottingham Forest’s City Ground.
Dowie paid tribute to her team mates who along with her goals helped pull off the huge scalp.
She said: “The whole team deserved it today. Our defending was superb, but I’m just so glad that I got us the goal that won us the trophy, they deserved it”.
Mo Marley's side currently sit third in the FA Women's Premier League eight points behind their cup final victims, league leaders Arsenal.
