Everton have sufffered a fresh injury blow after it was revealed that Marouane Fellaini could be sidelined for the rest of the season through injury.

The midfielder limped out of action after a clash with Liverpool's Sotirios Kyrgiakos during the Blues' Merseyside derby defeat left him nursing an ankle injury.

Doctors have been unable to fully assess the damage sustained to the Belgian due to severe swelling which saw him miss last week's Barclays Premier League win over Chelsea and has also ruled him out for tonight's Europa League clash with Sporting Lisbon.

Goodison chiefs now fear that Fellaini, 22, could be forced to sit out Everton's remaining games of the current campaign.
