David Moyes has revealed that he plans to add further signings to Everton's ranks this summer.
Today the Blues paraded ex-Rangers striker Steven Naismith, who arrived on a free transfer, and have now turned their attention to bringing Tottenham's Steven Pienaar back to Merseyside.
The South African enjoyed a brief homecoming during a loan spell in the second half of last season and has made clear his intention to return to Goodison Park and Moyes has confirmed his intentions to make the midfielder one of what he anticipates will be a host of potential new faces at Everton.
He said: "It gives everybody a lift. It gives the supporters a lift and that's why we've got a full room today, because everybody rarely sees Everton sign players at this early date.
"But I'd like to say I hope it's not the first and I don't expect it to be the last either so I'm hoping to get some more business done certainly before the season gets started."
Andre Villas-Boas's appointment as Spurs manager earlier this week has cast doubt over Everton's plans to recapture Pienaar but Moyes remains hopeful of securing the 30-year-old's signature.
"We're keen and I'm sure, in time, I hope that we will be able to conclude that deal," he admitted.
He added: "I don't like talking about players at other clubs but I think the fact of the matter is that Steven's made it really clear that he wants to come back to Everton.
"My understanding is that hasn't changed so my next job, hopefully, in the coming weeks is to get Steven Pienaar here as well."
