Darron Gibson has admitted taking the advice of Wayne Rooney before becoming Everton's first permanent signing of the January window on a four and a half year deal.
The attacking midfielder, who joined the Blues for an undisclosed fee, said Rooney had high praise for his former employers.
And, after also consulting with some of the senior pros at Goodson, Gibson said that he is now looking forward to what Rooney has informed him, is a "great club".
Gibson said: "I was speaking to Wazza quite a bit about it and after talking with him and coming to see the facilities here it was an easy decision for me.
"He told me it was a great club and that he really enjoyed his time here, that he enjoyed working with the people, and that the players were great too.
"So having a word with him and with other people like Phil Neville and Tim Cahill, convinced me that this move was right."
Gibson, a Republic of Ireland international capped 17 times by his country, arrives on Merseyside with a reputation for scoring eye catching goals.
Those strikes would be welcomed by David Moyes, who has seen his side struggle for goals this season.
But Gibson said scoring will be a bonus for now as he looks to bed in at his new club.
He said: "Hopefully I can improve the squad, I'm a goalscoring midfielder so I want to score some goals, but to be honest I just want to do as well as I can and help the team out.
"I've not had a run of games properly so I think that once I get into the swing of things I'll bring a lot.
"I have scored a few long range shots. I don't think I've scored one inside the box to be honest.
"But if I score goals it's a bonus for me, I'm just looking to do my bit for the team.
"I'm very excited, I've been at Man U since I was 15, so this is the first proper move I've had, and I'm really looking forward to it."
