Everton have today announced that star midfielder Marouane Fellaini has put pen to paper on a new five-year deal at the club.

The news will come as a massive boost to the Blues after a successful end to months of negotiation means the 23-year-old will remain on Merseyside until 2016.

Fellaini, who arrived on Merseyside as the club's record signing for £15m from Standard Liege in 2008, has established himself at the heart of David Moyes midfield.

The imposing youngster now forms one half of a youthful central partnership with recent England débutante Jack Rodwell.

Everton Chief Executive Robert Elstone said the club hope that Fellaini, who had contributed 16 goals in 98 appearances for the club, will continue to be an influential player for the club in years to come.

He said: "“We are all delighted we have secured the services of Marouane for the long term.

“As everyone is aware these negotiations have been ongoing for some time but both parties remained positive that we would reach agreement.

“Marouane has been a hugely influential player for Everton since his arrival in 2008 and we hope than remains to be the case for the next five years.”
