Everton have criticised members of a disgruntled fans union for their "lack of respect" after secretly taping a meeting offered to them by Everton chairman Bill Kenwright.
Three members of the 'Blue Union', an amalgamation of various fan groups, were invited to a clear the air meeting with the chairman where it was agreed no note taking would be made.
This week however the group released a transcript of that interview which they had recorded without the club's or Mr Kenwright's knowledge.
Ian Ross, Communications Director at Everton was critical of the Blue Union's deception and said that the group do not represent the majority of Blues.
He said: “It must be pointed out that, after agreeing at the start of the meeting that there would be no note taking, the members of the Blue Union secretly taped the entire conversation.
“Bill Kenwright spent three and a half hours of his day with them, but they saw fit to treat both him and the football club with a total lack of respect.
“We accept that they neither speak for nor are representative of the vast majority of Everton supporters.”
David Moyes today backed his chairman before his side's league opener against QPR.
Moyes said: "We've got a really good chairman who does everything he possibly can to make the Club work.
"He needs support and help and he certainly gets my backing because he's a great chairman.
"I can tell you loads of managers who are not enjoying working for their chairman in the Premier League.
"I do enjoy working for my chairman because he's a supporter, he's got the club at heart and he's desperate for me and the team to do well."
