After another summer of fruitless forays into the transfer market, Everton, yet again, could be forced to seek a temporary solution to their long-standing striker trouble with a loan move for Arsenal misfit Nicklas Bendtner.
Tight financial constraints, not helped by a series of botched deals for outgoing players, has meant that David Moyes is once more forced to be resourceful in his recruitment of a player who can add much needed goals to his misfiring frontline.
Bendtner, who made the step to senior football as a 17-year-old at Arsenal, has failed to nail down a permanent place in Arsene Wenger's best eleven despite the long-term absence of Robin Van Persie in recent seasons.
Known for his high self-confidence, the 23-year-old has been seen as a disruptive character who is yet to reach the kind of heights which the player himself clearly feels he is capable of reaching.
The young Dane would add both pace and power the Blues' frontline however, a combination which none of Moyes current strikers can boast. He also comes with European experience having notched up nine Champions League to his name.
Bendtner is likely to fall further down the pecking order at The Emirates when Arsenal confirm the signing of Ivorian striker Gervinho from Lille for £10.6m next week.
Moyes is currently in the USA with his first team squad as they gear up for the coming season with friendlies against Philadelphia Union and DC United.
It is likely that a decision will be made when Everton return for their last two warm up games of the summer, one of which is against Bendtner's former loan clubs Birmingham.
