Jack Rodwell is ready to put the frustrations of last season behind him and shine on the European stage for England U-21's this summer.

The midfielder, who had a stop-start campaign due to poor form and injury, has been selected by Stuart Pearce represent the young Lions in Denmark this summer.

Rodwell admitted that returning to fitness at the end of the season would normally be frustrating after a year of interrupted runs in the side, but he said that the Euros now come at the perfect time and that he is looking forward to shining on the international stage.

He said: "Personally it's been an off season for me I've picked up a lot of injuries and not been able to get a good run of form, so I'm looking forward to next season.

"I've a lot of niggling injuries and not been able to get match fit and it can get frustrating when you're coming back to fitness at the end of the year.

"But now I'm feeling really good, it's the best I've felt. I've got a good tournament ahead of me and I'm really looking forward to it."
