Everton's plan to bring Landon Donovan beck to Goodison Park this winter could be scuppered by the players fitness.
Both Donovan and Moyes have expressed a desire to work together again after last year's successful stint.
But the American, who has had a long year with both World Cup and MLS commitments, could be too much in need of a rest when his domestic season with L.A Galaxy ends.
Asked by Radio Merseyside if a repeat of the move was within the realms of possibility, Donovan said: "It's hard for me to say as I've had a really long year. But we'll see after a few week's rest and see how it goes.
"It would be hard to say no.
"I really hope that, if it's not this year, I get to go back there and play again.
"But if you asked me now I would lean towards a little more uncertainty."
David Moyes was unable to bring the American back to Goodison permanently after L.A Galaxy priced the Blues out of a move.
With an asking price rumoured to be in the region of £11m, the Scot felt that 28-year-old Donovan didn't represent enough of a long-term investment.
