Everton's American keeper Tim Howard has urged the Blues to re-sign his countryman Landon Donovan.
David Moyes was open in his admiration of the midfielder after his first successful spell at Goodison last year.
But after an impressive World Cup campaign with the USA, MLS Galaxy slapped an £11m price tag on their star player, pricing the Blues out of a permanent deal.
As the MLS off-season approaches the opportunity will present itself once more, for Donovan to step back into the Blues' ranks.
And for Howard the chance to bring a 'fantastic player' into the team makes perfect sense.
He said: "The manager got a fantastic player, the fans loved him, he played well, and MLS and Galaxy didn't lose a whole lot.
"It was off season and he got a chance to play at a high level.
"I don't see why it can't happen again this year. We enjoyed it and so did he."
This week Everton travel to White Heart Lane, where last year Donovan missed a sitter that still lives long in the memory of Evertonians.
The Blues will be looking to take advantage of a tired Tottenham outfit after their seven-goal thriller at the San Siro on Wednesday.
