Everton FC: Kranjcar cools Pienaar swap rumours

Niko Kranjcar has doused rumours of his joining Everton in a deal that would see Steven Pienaar going the other way, to White Heart Lane.

In an interview with The Independent, the Croatian said he is willing to be patient with the current situation at Spurs, where he is yet to start a Premier League game this season.

The late arrival of Raphael Van Der Vaart has made life difficult for the midfielder, and that coupled with Tottenham's pre-season pursuit of Pienaar has sparked some far fetched rumours of a swap deal being on the cards.

But Kranjcar said he is prepared to wait in the wings at Spurs.

He said: "I am waiting for my chance.

"The (Tottenham) squad is probably one of the best in the Premier League. I have to work hard."

The Croatian undoubtedly has the industrious attitude that David Moyes likes to see in his players.

But the Blues' boss is still confident of keeping Pienaar, despite club and player still at stalemate in their contract negotiations.
