Everton FC legend warns Moyes: Beware the old campaigner

Everton and Manchester United may be two teams renowned for their respective records of developing the talent of tomorrow.

But according to a one-time Everton starlet, it is the old-hands which are making United tick this season, and they had better beware the experienced campaigners.

Graeme Sharp singled out United legend Paul Scholes as the biggest threat to Moyes' men, as they attempt to pull off a repeat of last season's prize scalp.

The Scotland forward highlighted Scholes' renaissance this season which has seen him become United's most influential player at the age of 35.

He said: "He's a fantastic Professional and he's been in great form recently.

"He's been there for many a year now and he's certainly a player who knows how to run things."

The former Scotland forward said he feels that Scholes has certainly benefited from the rests afforded to him by his early England retirement and the results are showing in his game.

"Giving up the international football has done him the world of good, you can see now that players like him and Ryan Giggs will be a part of Manchester United's future for a long time to come.

"I don't think he's ever scored a bad goal, every one he seems to score is a volley, a shot from outside the box or a decent header, so he'll be the one to watch at the weekend for sure."

Everton will need to improve on their early season form if they are to turn over Fegie's men who will be looking to recover from their slip-up draw, last time out at Fulham.
