Fabio Capello has all but confirmed he will be starting Phil Jagielka in Englands Euro 2010 against Bulgaria.

The Blues' centre half was a doubt after picking up a slight ankle knock in Sunday's defeat at Aston Villa.

But Capello, who looks to have settled on Jagielka as a solid stand in for Rio Ferdinand, said he has been impressed by the 28-year-old's recovery.

"Jagielka is fit and trained well.

"The pain is a little better and tomorrow he will be at 100 per cent."

When pressed on his starting selection, Capello said it was only the wide midfield position he was still pondering, confirming Jagielka amongst the new look starting line-up.

He said: "The keeper Joe Hart, and Wayne Rooney, Steve Gerrard, Gareth Barry, Cole, Johnson and Jagielka, yes.

"I know 10 or 11 who will play, with a little confusion about one wing."

David Moyes will be hoping the Italian recognises the defender is recently recovered so as not to put him at risk for Everton's upcoming run of massive Premier League games which starts at home to Manchester United.
