David Moyes used the unveiling of a new club timeline at Goodison Park as a motivational tool for his players, Jack Rodwell revealed.
The series of plaques runs right around the stadium and chronicles important points in the Club's history, including record signings and major trophy wins.
And Jack Rodwell, hotly tipped as the future of Everton football club, said the gaffer was quick to remind the players that they are yet to create a plaque of their own.
He said: "He (Moyes) came in before the game and said to us all that there was a mural around the ground telling about the Club's history.
"He reminded us that none of us are on it yet and made his point clear that he wants to do something this season.
"That's definitely in our thoughts."
Everton have struggled with the weight of expectation this year after last season's sprint finish induced a mood of optimism around the club.
Rodwell said the win against Huddersfield shouldn't be underestimated in terms of its importance for club morale.
The youngster thrived in the spotlight once again at Goodison on Wednesday and said he enjoys the thrill of knock-out cup competition.
He said: "There's always the possibility of looking at games like the Huddersfield one as a gimme, but the manager got our spirits up the right way and we went out fighting."
"The cup competitions give me a real buzz.
"The atmosphere was brilliant and it helped because of the goals. The fans are always up for it and so are we. The result will really have helped us."
Rodwell is now in serious contention for a starting place against Aston Villa in tomorrow's Premier League fixture after his stand-out performance in the Cup.
