Everton's assistant manager Steve Round has lavished praise on Seamus Coleman after his performance in last night's Carling Cup tie.

The young Irishman turned in a man of the match performance against Huddersfield with a buccaneering wide display.

Round said Coleman's confidence is visibly growing and that his attacking ability has not gone unnoticed by his team mates.

In a reference to Spanish international right back Sergio Ramos, round said: "He's known to the lads as 'Seamus Ramos' now because of his forward play.

"I thought he was absolutely scintillating, his attacking work down the right was really pleasing for myself and David to watch."

"The important thing is that he keeps developing now, there's still some aspects to his game which he can improve, particularly defensively.

"But he's played well tonight and we're really happy with his performance."

The Blues number two, speaking at last night's post match press conference, said he and manager David Moyes were their team were able to secure a first competitive win of the season.

He said: "Winning is a good habit to be in, and the manager reminded the players of that at half time.

"We're glad to get that monkey off our back and we'll look forward to Villa at the weekend."

Coleman has made his strongest claim yet for a place after last night's man of the match performance but may yet still be made to wait with Tony Hibbert also in good form for the Blues.

So would they consider Seamus for the Right Midfield spot if they're concerned about his defense?
