David Price vs Tyson Fury - The Heat is On

by Jay Ledsham. Published Tue 07 Feb 2012 11:19

Frank Maloney, the promoter of Liverpool's own undefeated heavyweight David Price has received word from British heavyweight champion Tyson Fury's team.

The word on the street is that the showdown between the two may happen this year.

Many believed Fury would vacate his British and Commonwealth in search of international honours, which would throw the proposed showdown between Tyson and David into the scrap heap.

Although Pricey is desperate for the fight he had suspicions that Fury wouldn't take the fight because it wouldn't make much sense in terms of business.

If Fury rejects the showdown he would be inclined to relinquish his titles and that would mean Fury vs Price wouldn't happen for at least 12 months.

Tyson Fury and his team have until tomorrow (Feb 8th) to accept, Maloney put heat on the matter by lodging a bid last week hoping to wrap up a deal.

Fury's promoter Mick Hennessey responded with a counter offer over the weekend, which is being debated between the two teams.

If the two teams cannot come to a agreement by tomorrow the British Boxing Board of Control will enforce closed purse bids.

Tomorrow afternoon we will know if the fight will go ahead and Click Liverpool can reveal other promoters may lodge offers as there is money to be made on the heavyweight clash.

David Price began training last week and he is extremely excited at the possibility of meeting Fury for the British and Commonwealth crowns.

If Maloney is to beat Hennessey into holding the fight, the meeting between the heavyweights will likely take place May 5th in David's hometown of Liverpool.

David will know as of tomorrow afternoon whether he will face Fury or be boxing in America next month.
