Boxing: Del Boy says he will knock Wladimir Klitschko out

British heavyweight champion Dereck Chisora has told David Haye to fight Tomasz Adamek if he wants to be respected.

The WBA champion has cancelled a defence of his crown on the 21st May, against either Ruslan Chagaev or Alexander Povetkin, after talks with Wladimir Klitschko were resurrected.

A bout on the 2nd July could now be arranged - only nine weeks after the Ukrainian faces ‘Del Boy’.

Chisora, 27, believes ‘Hayemaker’ would earn the respect of the British public if he shelved those plans and fought Adamek instead.

And he insisted that the fight with Klitschko, the WBO and IBF champion, will not be happening.

“I wouldn’t be buying a ticket just yet,” said the Zimbabwean-born heavyweight.

“The fight Haye is dreaming of won’t be happening after I step in the ring with Wladimir.

“If Haye wants my respect, he should fight someone like Adamek – he’s a good fighter, he’ll make David work.

“It would show the British public he is the real deal.”

Adamek has signed a deal that will see him fight one of the Ukrainian brothers in one of the new stadiums built for the 2012 European Championships in Poland.

The 34-year-old Pole has only lost once in 43 fights, and faces Kevin McBride in New Jersey on the 9th April.

Haye recently ridiculed Wladimir’s decision to fight Chisora, describing it as a ‘warm-up’ bout.

But the Finchley man is confident of beating Klitschko and he even went as far as a prediction.

“Put your money on the 7th or 8th round,” he added.

“This guy is getting knocked out.”

Negotiations between Hayemaker and Sauerland have apparently resulted in agreements on a 50/50 purse split.

However, the clash could be in jeopardy should Chisora’s prediction come true in Mannheim, Germany on the 30th April.

Even a nasty cut over the Ukrainian’s eye would surely derail any plans to duel on the 2nd July.
