
A man from Liverpool has appeared in court charged with the kidnap and rape of a 10-year-old girl in Lancashire.
Kevin Holmes, 28, of Thornton, Merseyside, appeared before Wyre Magistrates Court charged with abduction and rape.
The youngster was bundled into a car as she played in a residential street in the Chatsworth area of Fleetwood, on the afternoon of Sunday 9th May.
She is said to have been taken to an area of land on Rossall Lane, around a mile-and-a-half away, where the rape attack is alleged to have happened.
Lancashire Police arrested Holmes at his home in Coney Crescent, Thornton, on Friday.
Wyre Magistrates remanded Holmes in custody and committed him to appear at Preston Crown Court on 9th September 2010.
During the investigation of the alleged crime detectives praised the girl and her family for their fortitude and bravery.
