The owner of an illegal pitbull which mauled a four-year-old to death has been told he may face jail, after pleading guilty at Liverpool Magistrates Court.
John-Paul Massey was savaged by the illegal dog, named Uno, at his grandmother's Wavertree home on 30th November last year.
At a hearing on 11th May, John-Paul's uncle Christian Foulkes, 22, admitted owning the two-year-old pitbull which tragically killed the youngster, who suffered injuries to his head and neck.
He also admitted to owning a second illegal dog, Lita, which was being kept at a separate address. A third charge of "making a gift of an illegal pitbull-type dog" was dropped by the prosecution.
Foulkes, an army trainee, was bailed by District Judge Richard Clancy, and will return for sentencing in June, where the judge warned: "I am sure you appreciate the extreme seriousness of this, and the court will be considering custody."
Foulkes was joined at the 15 minute hearing by John Paul's mother, Angela McGlynn, who has supported him throughout.
