The mother of murdered toddler James Bulger has called for those changed with monitoring her son's killer to be sacked if it proves that he was given "yellow cards" for breaches of his parole.

Denise Fergus said she warned that the two convicted of abducting and murdering James in 1993 would re-offend when they were released after spending eight years in secure children's homes.

Interviewed on ITV's This Morning programme Denise, 42, said: "I believe whoever has been protecting Jon Enables over all these years should be sacked.

"Nine years ago I said they would go on and re-offend. I don't want anyone else to suffer at Thompson or Veale's hands."

Venables and his accomplice Robert Thompson were just 10 when they battered two-year-old James to death 17 years ago.

Venables, now 27, was released on licence but has been sent back to jail and could face a court appearance over what Jack Straw described as "very serious" allegations and which the Sunday Mirror claimed were child pornography offences.

Speaking on This Morning Denis said: "As soon as the parole board said they wanted to meet me I knew it was going to be Thompson or Venables.

"I honestly thought it was going to be Thompson because I've always been led to believe that he was the evil one.

"But I know that the two of them are evil because they were both in it from the beginning and they both chose to carry out the crime to the end. So the two of them in my eyes are pure evil. It wasn't just Thompson it was Venables as well.

Denise is expected to learn today (Monday) from Justice Secretary Jack Straw the date on which he proposes to meet her.

She says she does not expect to be told what Venables had done in detail, only to learn the nature of the charge on which he was arrested.

She said: "I don't want to jeopardise another case. I am prepared to wait a bit longer."

Ms Fergus said of the revelation last week: "I don't know what he (Venables) has done. I don't know whether he has gone on to kill someone else.

"I have had sleepless nights and I am not eating again - I have had to pull my kids out of school. It is just one massive rollercoaster again for me and I can't believe that they are putting me through all this."

Being extremely unfortunate does not make you an expert in anything or mean that your opinions are valid.
