A Wii fan has splashed-out nearly half a million pounds on the world's most expensive computer games machine.
Customised by expert jewellers the Nintendo console comes with a solid gold case encrusted with 19.5 carrats of diamonds.
It is one of a limited edition of three machines - named the "Nintendo Wii Supreme" that have been minted in the UK.
Designed and built by Stuart Hughes ,the Wii Supremes have a case fashioned out of 2.5kilos of 22 carat gold encrusted with 78 diamonds on the buttons.
Specialist goldsmith Stuart, 38, of Liverpool, said: "The Wii is a 'must have' Christmas present all over the world and for those who can afford it the Wii Supreme is the ultimate example.
"If diamonds are done cheaply they appeal to the hip-hop brigade, but if they are done tastefully then they are very classy and distinctive.
Stuart specialises in customising everyday items for the super-rich but revealed that he does not hanker after a Wii Supreme.
He added: "Gadgets aren't really my thing. I have an iPhone, but all I use that for is to text and call.
"All I ever set out to do was to give people a choice in life. I'm just giving people the opportunity to go out and have something a bit different."
The first Nintendo Wii Supreme has been sold to an unidentified Australian
businessman.
