Friends and family of John Paul Massey, the toddler mauled to death by his uncle's illegal pitbull, will gather to pay their respects at his funeral on Tuesday.
The youngster's family have arranged a private cremation to take place at St Anne's Church, Overbury Street, at noon tomorrow (15th December).
Four-year-old John Paul was killed a fortnight ago while staying with his grandmother at her Wavertree home.
Forensic examinations have since revealed that the dog was an illegal American Pitbull, and the youngster's uncle, Christian Foulkes has been questioned by police as the owner of the animal.
Foulkes, 21, has since been released on bail pending further enquiries, however if he is charged and found guilty of possessing an illegal dog, he could face up a jail term of six months.
Police were called to the incident at 24 minutes past midnight on Tuesday 1st December, where a police marksman destroyed the animal, named Uno.
John Paul was pronounced dead at the scene, having suffered horrendous injuries to his face and neck, while his grandmother Helen Foulkes, 63, required hospital treatment for injuries she received trying to restrain the animal.
