Curtis Warren, Liverpool's most notorious criminal, has been sentenced to thirteen years behind bars after a failed drug attempt.
Warren has spent most of the last thirteen years in prison, except for a few months in 2007, during which time he was arrested again for the bungled smuggling plot.
The prolific dealer, who rose through the criminal underworld from street dealer to one of Europe's most wanted was convicted in October alongside five accomplices, after their plot to smuggle £1 million worth of cannabis into Jersey failed.
Warren and five co-accused attempted to purchase 180kg of the illegal substance in Amsterdam, before transporting their horde from Normandy, France, to Jersey by boat.
Warren, who is known as "Cocky" by fellow lags, is the only drug dealer to have made it onto the Sunday Times rich list.
The 46-year-old remained in HMP Belmarsh during the sentencing, but followed the court proceedings by video link.
Howard Sharp, prosecuting, requested a sentence of thirteen years, which was agreed by the judge.
Sharp said: "Warren is a prolific drugs trafficker, who has operated at the highest levels of the international drugs trade.
"He orchestrated this conspiracy. He knew and had direct contact with the main co-ordinators in both Jersey and Holland, from source to distributor.
"He had the necessary clout and influence to direct them. He was the link between the two."
