Police have released new computer generated images of how missing Madeleine McCann might look today, two and a half years after her disappearance.
One image shows a six-year-old Madeleine as she could look if she has been living in Europe, still fair haired and pale skinned.
The other has been altered to show how the youngster might look if she has spent the last two years in North Africa, with darker hair and tanned skin.
The fresh appeal comes after Madeleine's parents, Kate and Gerry McCann, wrote to leading child abduction officer Jim Gamble, begging him to examine their case.
Alongside the fresh images, Gamble has released a sixty second video appealing to those who may know Madeleine's kidnappers.
Mr Gamble said: "It is the first time it has been done and I absolutely believe this has the opportunity, the potential, to get to the person we are looking for. We are not looking for someone who has seen this girl particularly.
"We are looking for the person who knows or strongly suspects the individual or individuals involved in Madeleine's disappearance. The person who for a long time has perhaps struggled with their conscience keeping a terrible secret."
Mr Gamble genuinely believes there is still hope of finding the youngster. He added: "I've reviewed cases of children who turned up four, eight, 18 years later. Statisticians do that most awful of thing, taking away people's hope."
