Everton star Jose Baxter bailed by police over drugs offences

Teenage Everton soccer star Jose Baxter has been bailed by police after being arrested on suspected of drugs and fraud offences.

The Liverpool-born midfielder was one of three men detained by officers from Merseyside police who stopped a car in the Kirkby area.

Baxter is the the youngest player ever to appear for the Blues first team and is widely tipped for a glittering career.

He was arrested on suspicion of possessing cannabis with intent to supply when the car was hauled-over in the Kirkby area on Monday afternoon.

He was quizzed about possession of counterfeit money along with two other men, aged 29 and 34.

After being detained overnight at a Merseyside police station Baxter was released on police bail without charge.

A Merseyside Police spokesman confirmed that three men aged, 17, 29 and 34 has been arrested and released on police bail pending further enquires.

An Everton spokesman declined to comment.
