The convicted-conman "accountant" who claims he was assaulted by Kerry Katona faces a kick in the teeth from worried officials.

David McHugh has declared that he wants to sever all ties to the former Atomic Kitten after allegations that she hurled a cup of hot coffee over him and inflicted bruises.

But his troubles are not over.

We can reveal that officials at the Financial Services Authority have launched an investigation after they learned that McHugh is illicitly using its logo as a "badge of respectability".

McHugh is not an accountatn and is disqualified from running limited companies but his wife Maureen masquerades as the registered director for a network of firms that he has a hand in.

The FSA logo appears on web sites of two of the companies - Touchstone Legal Ltd and
touchstone Accountancy.

But the activities of the two firms are NOT regulated by the FSA and it is not permitted for the logo to be used by any firms that do not come under its jurisdiction.

Now the FSA legal team is considering action to stop the McHugh companies using its logo.

A spokesman said: "Our legal team will be looking at this. The FSA regulates the activities of companies in the financial services sector.

"The two companies concerned are not registered with us and it is not proper for a company to used the FSA logo in this way."

Police were called to McHugh's offices in Warrington, Cheshire, where the reality TV star saw red over her financial troubles and continued bankruptcy.

Speaking about the alleged attack Mr McHugh said: "The door slammed open and she said, 'David what the f**king hell is this?' She was yelling and yelling and yelling.

"She started getting nasty and went for me. She caught my neck and ear and threw a hot scalding cup of tea over me, with papers going everywhere."

He added: "I've got black and blue bruises on my neck and side. My neck is still sore. The police wanted me to go to hospital but I decided not to.

The accountant has also claimed Kerry’s husband Mark Croft sent him a text after the alleged incident, to try to make peace between the pair.

But Mr McHugh has said that is the last thing he will do, adding: "I have no intention of sorting this out.

"I'm not interested. I'm severing all contact with her. We never really got on very well."

But another outfit has embarked on severing its links with Mr McHugh's companies.

Leaders of the West Cheshire & North Wales Chamber of Commerce are disturbed that he joined its ranks without disclosing his murky past and are to consider removing his companies from its membership.

The Chamber's logo also appears on Touchstone web sites.

A spokesman for the West Wales and Cheshire Chamber said: "These companies joined the Chamber in January and we have had no futher contact with them.

"We had no idea that they were associated with a man who has a record for fraud.

"The Chamber's Board will now carry out an urgent review of their membership and if it proves that they are being run by disqualified director they will no doubt be removed."
