Red Dwarf star Robert Llewllyn landed himself in trouble with producers after sending fans into a frenzy on Twitter by claiming one of the new shows had been cancelled.

Brand new episodes of the cult sci-fi sitcom are due to be screened by digital TV channel Dave at Easter.

Red Dwarf: Back to Earth, along with a Making Of, and Red Dwarf: Unplugged - featuring the cast acting out entirely improvised scenes.

Rob, who plays mechanoid Kryten in the cult show, sent a tweet out to his 15,208 followers proclaiming that bosses had said the improv show had been pulled.

Red Dwarf: Unplugged, billed as promising to 'deliver the cast of Red Dwarf as they've never been seen before - no sets, no effects... and no cue cards.'

Kryters let the Cat out of the bag on his Bobbyllew Twitter profile: "Unplugged episode has been cancelled. Sorry."

The shock announcement left fans tweeting in anger, and Rob was forced to backtrack: "Found out today that I wasn't meant to say anything about the unplugged episode being cancelled.

"Got a big mouth, get me in trouble."

So has Unplugged been unplugged?

The Dave channel is still listing the show and the linked blog says "We are shooting 4 new episodes of Red Dwarf this February and March."

Although these are now thought to be three episodes of Back to Earth, plus the Making of.

While this may have been a smeg-up by 'Captain Bog-bot,' there has been a smeg-tastic unveiling of a new crew member in the form of actress Sophie Winkleman (Peep Show), who will play a hologramatic rival to Arnold Rimmer.
