A man has been charged with the murder of car driver Marc Clarke, 42, who was stabbed in an altercation after a car crash.

Steven Branscombe, 42, of Boswell St, Birkenhead, is charged with murdering Mr Clarke in Teehey Lane, Bebington, Wirral.

Marc died from multiple stab wounds after he was involved in an altercation with another man following a minor accident at around 3.10pm on Friday.

Floral tributes have been laid near the scene in Teehay Lane Bebington, by friends and locals.

Among them was one that read: "Deepest sympathy to Lou and kids. Thinking of you all at this time.

"See you again one day, big fella. Gonna miss you loads. Thanks for the away days. Love you to bits - Les, Nicky and kids."

Another read: "RIP Marc, taken so cruelly. God bless Gentle Giant. All our love."

Nearby resident Douglas Unwin, 80, said: "I'm shocked. I've lived around here for more than 60 years and this is the first time anything like this has happened.

Branscombe was scheduled to appear before magistrates on Monday morning.
