
The man who was stabbed in an apparent 'road rage' attack in Wirral has been officially named by police as Marc Clarke.
Marc died from multiple stab wounds after he was involved in an altercation with another man following a minor accident on Friday.
He was on a "school run" and witnesses said his son was in the car at the time of the incident.
Floral tributes were laid near the scene in Teeha Lane Bebington, by friends and locals.
Among them was one that read: "Deepest sympathy to Lou and kids. Thinking of you all at this time.
"See you again one day, big fella. Gonna miss you loads. Thanks for the away days. Love you to bits - Les, Nicky and kids."
Another read: "RIP Marc, taken so cruelly. God bless Gentle Giant. All our love."
Nearby resident Douglas Unwin, 80, said: "I'm shocked. I've lived around here for more than 60 years and this is the first time anything like this has happened.
"I was walking along and saw children on their way home from school. The police had blocked the road and traffic was diverted.
"Paramedics were pumping the chap’s chest to try and save him."
A Merseyside Police spokswoman said: "We can confirm that the victim of yesterday's incident in Teehey Lane, Wirral is 42-year-old Marc Clarke of Bebington.
"Post mortem results have revealed that Mr Clarke died as a result of multiple stab wounds.
"Officers are continuing to appeal to anyone who witnessed this information or who has any information about it to contact Detectives on 0151 777 2265 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
A 42-year-old man from Birkenhead remains in police custody after he was arrested on suspicion of murder.
