Everton striker Louis Saha is the latest player to be caught up in the race row which has engulfed football in recent weeks, after being abused by a fan on Twitter.
The France international was the target of a racist Tweet, sent after an Everton fan's account was accesses without their permission.
The player "retweeted" the offensive message before responding to it, calling the original poster a "disgrace" telling them not associate themselves with Everton Football Club.
The 33-year-old said: "Don't attached urself with the club. U disgrace."
Saha later said the tweet was sent by a colleague of the account user, without their permission. He also claimed that the person behind the tweet has been suspended from their job.
Everton have now confirmed that police are aware of the incident and that a "thorough and proper" investigation is underway.
