Police hunting a woman who poured-out a vile race hate attack on a train have issued a CCTV picture of the suspect.

During the incident a 24-year-old Asian woman was verbally abused by another woman and told to "go back to your own country'.

Now British Transport Police are calling upon the public to help locate a woman who may be a key witness to the offence which happened on a Warrington to Liverpool Lime Street, Liverpool train.

Det Con Dominic Wilcox said: "The victim was singled out by the offender, because she is Asian, and was subjected to a barrage of abuse.

"The offender, a woman believed to be aged 35-40, confronted the victim, called her racist names and told her ‘go back to your own country'"

DC Wilcox added: "No-one should have to suffer any form of abuse when travelling on the rail network and we are now working to identify the offender and take action.

"We have released a CCTV image of a woman we would like to speak to in connection with the incident as we believe she may have vital information."

If you recognise the woman, or have information in relation to the incident, please call British Transport Police on 0800 40 50 40 or ring Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111. In all calls please quote B14/NWA of 22/12/11.
