Liverpool model Abbey Clancy has thanked family friends and members of the public who have sent messages of support after her home was burgled.

Abbey and her soccer star husband Peter Crouch became the victims of thieves who ransacked their Cheshire and even stole their daughter's Christmas presents.

The £80,000-a-week Stoke City striker and his model wife Abbey Clancy were horrified to discover that burglars had entered their £4.5million home and escaped with gifts for nine-month-old Sophia.

The gang also stole thousands of pounds worth of jewellery, expensive watches and electrical goods in the raid at Mottram St Andrew on Tuesday evening.

The gang enterd the couple's six-bedroom mansion in the Cheshire "millionaire's village" that is a retreat for many celebrities and Premier League footballers.

Police believe the raisers smashed a kitchen window and entered the property ransacking most of its rooms.

A source close to 25-year-old Abbey said the couple, who got married in June, were "very upset" by the raid.

Abbey tweeted: "Thank you all for your lovely and supportive messages xx. Means a lot xx!"

It is the second time that Crouch, 30, has been targeted by burglars. His previous home in Alderley Edge, Cheshire, was raided in 2006.

The striker, along with Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard, Emile Heskey and former Manchester City striker, Roque Santa Cruz, were all burgled by a gang who timed their raids to coincide with football matches - knowing the players would not be at home.

A spokesman for Cheshire Police confirmed that there had been a break- saying: "The occupants were not at home at the time of the offence.

"Police are now investigating the circumstances of the burglary and appeal for any witnesses to contact Cheshire police on 101."
