A Liverpool mother has answered a police appeal for information after two boys were arrested over an attempt to snatch-away a toddler in a supermarket.
The pair, aged eleven and twelve, were arrested and quizzed on suspicion of attempted abduction of the un-named youngster at an supermarket in Wavertree.
It is believed that the incident - with chilling echoes of the James Bulger case was caught on CCTV at the ASDA superstore in Smithdown Road.
But the mother who reported the matter to security guards did not leave her name and police had to resort to issuing a grainy image of her, pusing a trolly, in an appeal for her to contact them.
Merseyside Police have confirmed they had traced the woman and said that inquiries into the case are continuing.
In a statement Merseyside Police said: "Earlier this week we appealled for the public's help in tracing a woman, following an incident at an Asda supermarket on Smithdown Road on Sunday, 6th November.
"This woman has now been traced and enquiries are on-going into this incident.
"Officers would like to thank the public and Asda for their assistance in this matter."
A police spokesman also confirmed that the two boys taken in for questioning had been arrested on suspicion of attempted abduction of a child. They remain on police bail.
At the time of the orignal appeal James Bulger's mother Denise Fergus backed the call for the woman to explain what police described as a "disturbing incident".
