Ryanair have mad Liverpool soccer fans see RED by cancelling cut-price flights they had booked to Spain to see a big match.

Canny Koppites went online to the budgetairline site within minutes of the Champions League draw that pits Liverpool with Athletico Madrid.

Hundreds of them managed to buy seats at rock bottom prices of around £10 for return flights from East Midlands Airport to see their heroes meet Atletico Madrid on October 22,

But now Ryanair have announced that the flights from East Midlands to Madrid have been CANCELLED.

Travellers will have to re-book and pay prices over £100 but Ryanair deny the switch was a ruse to charge the higher prices.

They are offering refunds, but in some cases this amounts to only a few pounds, and the airline are refusing to re-route customers.

A spokeswoman insisted the changes were part of the company’s winter review. Flights from East Midlands to Madrid will now end on October 1.

Watchdog The Air Transport Users Council (AUC) criticised Ryan Airline for ‘poor practice’, but conceded they were operating legally.

Reds fan Tim Harding. 26, from Aigburth, Liverpool, booked six seats to Madrid, priced at £4.99 each way.

He said: "The seats on all the budget airlines flying to Spain were booked-up within a couple of hours of the draw for the Champions League.

"I thought we were lucky to get the flight we did.

"Now we are told the flight is cancelled and we will have to pay #150 for a flgiht via Amsterdam with a connection to Madrid.

"I think Ryanair are just cashing-in because they know they could have sold these seats 50 times over for £100 a pop."
