
Police are appealing for help in tracking-down a robber who knocked a woman to the ground a stole her bag.
The attack happened in in Huyton on Friday, 29 August, but details have only just been released by detectives.
They say a 69-year old woman was walking along Wavell Road at around 11.35am when a man riding a mountain bike approached her.
He knocked the woman to the ground and rode away with her handbag.
The bag was recovered shortly afterwards by a passing motorist who witnessed the crime.
The woman was left shaken and distressed by the incident.
Detective Constable Nick Sloan said: "I am eager to speak to anyone else who saw a male on a mountain bike, in and around the area of Bluebell Lane and Montgomery Road in Huyton just before this robbery took place.
"The offender was aged about 30-years, he wore blue jeans and a light blue t-shirt.
"This was a particularly cowardly attack on a vulnerable old age pensioner committed in broad daylight. Thankfully the woman was not seriously injured. I urge anyone who has any information to contact the police and ensure this offender is caught."
