
Everton footballer Steven Pienaar has been banned from driving for a year after being convicted of drink driving.
The 27-year-old was stopped at the wheel of his Aston Martin DB9 in Liverpool city centre in the early hours of Sunday 21st February.
The midfielder was found to be nearly twice the legal limit after celebrating his team's 3-1 victory over Manchester United just hours earlier.
The South African appeared before Liverpool Magistrates Court on Monday and pleaded guilty to charges of drink driving and failure to comply with a traffic sign.
He was banned from driving for 12 months and fined £1000.
