A killer who stabbed a Liverpool dad to death and critically inured his 14-year-old son has lost an appeal to have his sentence reduced.

Judges at the Court of Appeal ruled that thug Gary Finlay must serve his full twenty five year prison sentence, despite claims from his solictor that sufficient credit was not given for his guilty plea.

Finlay was found guilty of murdering former soldier Graham McKenna in the street in January 2009, and was handed a double life sentence at Liverpool Crown Court by Judge Henry Globe QC.

The 46-year-old murderer targeted Mr McKenna as he waited for a bus outside his home in Claughton, Wirral, stabbing him repeatedly.

He is due to be released in 2034.
