With Christmas fast approaching, Mencap Liverpool is running their “Light up a Life” campaign to give everyone in Liverpool the chance to say thank you to somebody who has brightened up their life.

The campaign is open to everyone to participate in, all people have to do is nominate the light in their life and make a small donation to the charity; proceeds will be spent on community projects across Merseyside.

Each nomination’s name will be placed on the Mencap Liverpool Tree of Light, which sits in reception at the Victoria Gallery & Museum as a visible recognition of the people that make a difference to our lives.

Sarah Jones, Chief Executive Mencap Liverpool, said: “It’s a chance to celebrate a new life, remember someone who has passed on, or simply say thank you to someone who has made your life better.

"By supporting our campaign you are also helping us to brighten the lives of others, as all the money raised from donations will go towards the work we do in 2010, supporting local families affected by learning disability.”

The campaign, which has been supported by B&Q, Edge Lane, TJ Hughes London Road and Wilkinson’s in St Johns Centre runs until Saturday 19th December.

To make a donation and nominate the people who “light up your life” please visit the Victoria Gallery & Museum reception or download your nomination form online at www.mencapliverpool.org.uk .
