Convict on the run after Liverpool hospital visit

A convict went on the run after he gave two prison guards the slip while he was being treated at an NHS hospital in Liverpool.

A manhunt was launched when Lee Edward Kent, aged 31, escaped just before 11am on Monday 14th December.

He managed to escape when he was taken to University Hospital Aintree for a pre-arranged treatment as an out-patient.

Kent, who was convicted of possession of drugs with intent to supply in June 2008, was serving a four-year sentence at Liverpool's Walton Jail.

Merseyside Police described Kent as white, 5ft 10 ins tall and of stocky build with cropped dark brown hair and was wearing a grey-coloured track suit when he escaped.

Det Insp Mark Guinness said: "We would ask the public to keep an eye out for this man and would ask anyone who may know of his whereabouts to contact us on 0151 777 4565 the Crimestoppers confidential hotline, 0800 555 111."

Kent is originally from Bootle and is known to frequent the Kirkdale area of Liverpool.
