Everton fans reveal Goodison Park redevelopment plan

Ambitious Everton supporters have unveiled designs for a proposed redevelopment of Goodison Park following the government's rejection of Destination Kirkby.

Despite Blues chief executive Robert Elstone dismissing plans to redevelop the stadium as being "very, very expensive", Keep Everton In Our City (KEIOC) have had computer-generated designs of what a redeveloped Goodison might look like.

The proposed new Goodison has been designed in a similar format to the current stadium with four separate stands but with a nearby building, presumed to be a hotel, towering over one of the ends.

The architecture for the adjoining building has been loosely based on the design of the new Hilton hotel which recently opened at the Liverpool One shopping development in Liverpool city centre.

Dave Kelly, chair of KEIOC, said: “Kirkby now represents the past; it represents another page in the rich and colourful history of Everton Football Club; we need to learn from the past, hope for the future and live in the present.

“We’re calling for a period of calm reflection; to take stock, to unite and to move forward, stronger, and committed to meet the challenge of making our great club even greater; it is not for KEIOC to fix the blame for the past, but to attempt to fix the course for the future.”
