
Police have launched a murder investigation after a 38-year-old man was stabbed to death in the Liverpool city region.
Officers answered a 999 call afte reports of a fight and a knifing in Birkenhead Road, Seacombe, early on Friday evening.
Police Believe that the victim, a local man, had been in a house on Birkenhead Road with people whom he knew when a fight broke out.
The fight spilled out on to the street and it is believed that it was then that victim was fatally stabbed.
An ambulance was called and the victim was taken to Arrowe Park Hospital where he later died.
A Merseyside Police spokesperson said: "Crime Scene Investigators are carrying out forensic examinations at the scene and house-to-house inquiries are under way.
"CCTV is being examined to try and establish what has happened and high visibility patrols have been stepped up in the area to reassure the local community.
"A Home Office post mortem will take place tomorrow to establish the cause of death."
