
A 17-year-old youth has been charged with murder following the death of 15-year-old John Marsh.
The youth, from the Thatto Heath area of St Helens, will appear before St Helens Magistrates this afternoon.
A 44-year-old woman was also arrested after the incident on Sunday morning. The pair are believed to be a mother and son who live on the estate.
The 44-year-old woman who was arrested on suspicion of murder and perverting the course of justice has been released on police bail pending further inquiries.
John Marsh died in hospital on Saturday night after he was attacked at 11.40pm outside a house in Hempstead Close, Thatto Heath, St Helens.
Tributes to John Marsh, nicknamed Marshy, have been left on a Facebook group set up in his memory, describing him as a 'legend'.
The group's description reads: "Ledgend Never Be Forgotten Miss You ,, Didn't Deserve Tu Be Taken So Young :'( xx"
