A gang of mindless yobs terrorised a district in a fireworks "gun-fight" that was captured on video by a shocked witness.
Quick-thinking Jamie Ferguson recorded shock footage on his digital camera, after he spotted the youths from his bedroom window.
Shopworker Jamie, 35, said: "I was shocked when I saw this crazy behaviour in broad daylight.
"I was too far away to catch up with them in person but I got my camera out and zoomed-in with the telephoto lens.
"Some of the yobs can't have been aged more than eight or nine, while the eldest were twelve or thriteen.
"They are lighting Roman candles and using them like guns to shoot balls of flame at each other - some of that at close range."
Jamie recorded the video in Park Road, Dingle, Liverpool, around a city council sports facility in Steble Street.
He added: "Any of them could have been blinded of the blazing fire-balls hat hit someone in the eye. or even worse.
"They were even firing them off across a road busy with traffic. One fire-ball missed a car by inches.
"A split second later and it could have caused an horrific accident if it had gone into a car through an open window.
"In the video you see one fireball hit a lad on his back and another of the idiots was even firing them as he rode around on his bike.
"What shocks me most is that they seem to have no idea of the dangers of what they're doing.
"It was totally reckless. They shouldn't be able to get hold of the things so easily in the first place."
Merseyside Police have renewed their warnings of the dangers of abusing fireworks and say they will examine the footage.
Supt Julie Cooke said: "We cannot stress enough the dangers of fireworks misuse.
"It is illegal for retailers to sell fireworks to those under 18, and for people to buy fireworks on their behalf.
"I would appeal to parents to be vigilant in ensuring that their children remain safe around fireworks and do not handle them personally.
"I would strongly urge anyone sees fireworks being misused to contact the police immediately for the safety of the children concerned."
