Michael Shields' full personal story is expected to be told in a newspaper and book deal with the Trinity Mirror publishing house.
Supporters of the Shields family recognise that they have been under both emotional and financial pressure during Michael's imprisonment in Bulgaria and then in England.
Former student Michael and his entire family are going to need continued support in the future but it is not yet clear whether any kind of fund is likely to be opened for public donations.
The campaign for Michael's release has had the full support of the leader of the Labour group on Liverpool City Council, Cllr Joe Anderson.
It was Cllr Anderson who led a fund-raising campaign and successfully raised £100,000 in the space of three months when that was the sum of "compensation" demanded by the Bulgarian authorities before they would agree to transfer Michael to a UK prison to serve his sentence.
There are now likely to be calls for further fund-raising in order to give Michael a new start in life after he was exonerated with the free pardon that declared him "morally and technically innocent".
