Two young music fans were killed and two others left fighting for life, after a horror car crash as they headed for a Bank Holiday weekend music festival.
Dominique Williams, 20, and her 21-year-old pal Nicola Edgar died instantly when the Renault Clio in which they were travelling careered off the road and hit a lamp-post.
Two 19-year-old friends survived the smash and were cut-free from the wreckage by rescue crews. Their condition was described as "critical" at Whiston Hospital.
Police have yet to identify the cause of the accident, which happened at around 11.30am on Saturday morning, on Higher Road, Speke.
Rescuers arrived at the scene to find the dark blue Renault Clio had somersaulted onto its roof before hitting the lamp-post.
Tony Lynott, who lead the rescue team said; "There were four females. I think they must have been going to Creamfields because they were all dressed up in the gear.
"We had to cut two girls from the car and two of the girls were dead at the scene. It was quite a difficult extrication. The car was on its roof and it had been involved in a really serious crash.
"Two of the girls were still alive and really badly trapped.
"The car had collided with a lamp-post but how it got to that position, I don't know.
"It was one of the most horrific crashes I have ever attended. It really was a battle to get the other girls out of the car as quickly as possible."
Dominique lived with her family in Maghull, near Liverpool while her friend Nicola was from Darlington.
Tributes to Dominique, a student at Edge Hill University, were posted via Facebook, after friends set-up a group in her memory.
Over 650 friends have already joined the group, leaving hundreds of messages of condolence.
One friend wrote; "I'll always remember you as a little smiler, dont think I ever saw you without a smile on your pretty little face.
"Such a tragedy that should never have happened, You were too young to be taken.... Rest in peace xxx"
Another said; "I still cant believe it and cant stop thinking about what's happened, It's so sad and won't sink in.. Although your gone, you'll always be loved and missed.. Sleep tight xxxxxx"
