The City of Liverpool is to host a special civic reception to honour its war veterans.
Former service personnel will gather for a service at the Cenotaph at St George’s Plateau with Liverpool’s Lord Mayor Councillor Steve Rotheram and other civic leaders on Friday.
Councillor Rotheram said: “It is important to remember just how many people were involved in defending Britain and the sacrifices that ordinary people made.
“I would like to praise the work of the Merseyside Council of Ex Servicemen and Regimental Associations (CESRA) who do extremely valuable work in giving tremendous support to ex-servicemen and women.”
The service and wreath-laying begins at 10.55am at the Cenotaph on St George’s Plateau lasting until 12noon and a civic reception starts at 6pm.
