Forget those good old fashioned notions about scribbling down notes, or tying knots in hankies, new research shows that Liverpudlians are still failing to remember the simplest of things.
Misplaced keys and neglected cups of tea jointly topped the scale with 40% of forgetful Scousers admitting these were the things they regularly failed to remember.
According to the survey by the National-Lottery.co.uk, the second most common thing people forgot was to remove clean clothes from the washing machine (34%), and in third place, at 33%, was forgetting to defrost food for dinner.
The research also showed 30% of people in the city often failed to remember not to swear in front of children, and finishing fifth, at 26%, was people forgetting what they went in to a shop for.
Surprisingly, 10% of those surveyed admitted to forgetting being on diets, and more shockingly 5% had forgotten to go to the toilet when they needed it.
A spokesperson for the National-Lottery.co.uk said: “I’m sure there are very few people who haven’t endured a desperate hunt around the house for their keys.
“We were quite surprised with some of the results though, particularly those Scousers who admitted regularly forgetting to go to the loo and almost a fifth forgetting to buy their lottery ticket.
“There are a number of ways you can help make remembering that little bit easier, whether that’s taking a leaf out of your grandmother’s book by tying a knot in your handkerchief or making the most of modern technology by using your computer or mobile phone.”
